First Lutheran Adults

First Lutheran Church offers a variety of lifelong learning opportunities for adults. Join us as we serve the Gospel and reach the World through our adult education opportunities. Look for specific time/date details in the monthly newsletter, the weekly bulletin or on the website calendar.

Bible Study Groups

Women: Circles are groups of women who meet on a monthly basis. Circles operate as part of First Lutheran Women (Women of the ELCA), as do the monthly Bible studies. For more details on Circles, visit the First Lutheran Women webpage.

Women:  Rejoice Bible Study is a group of women who gather for Bible study and fellowship Wednesday mornings from 9:30-10:30am (except the 2nd Wednesday of the month as that is Circle Day). All are welcome!

Interest Groups (Organized through First Lutheran Women)

Quilting for Missions: All women are invited to come and see what is done during our 'quilting' time. Many women think, "I'm not a quilter". Best part about our group is that you don’t have to be a 'quilter'. Yes, quilts do get made but the work is divided up and the 'sewing’ is done at home. We have many blocks cut out and available so that on quilt days some women can lay out a pattern for 'quilters’ to sew together at home. During our time together, we tie the quilt tops to batting and a back. After the quilt is tied, the hems are pinned so that the 'quilter’ can sew the hem to finish the quilt at home. No experience is needed to attend these fun afternoons -- so join other women for fellowship and rewarding times together. Come see how quilts are made at First Lutheran on the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month from 1-4pm in the Fellowship Hall. Another plus - we always have coffee and dessert!

Prayer Shawl Ministry: "You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mother’s womb. For such handiwork, I praise you. Awesome this great wonder!" Psalm 139:13-14.   Our prayer shawl ministry at First Lutheran Church reaches out with love and care to persons who are hurting. You are invited to be part of this caring ministry. This ministry combines knitting (crocheting) and praying as you make beautiful prayer shawls with love and care for those in great need. When the prayer shawl is completed it will be given to someone special who is suffering and in need of love and prayers. Anyone is welcome, for those who do not knit or crochet but would like to learn, you are welcome to join us. You will be able to learn and join this special ministry. Join us on the 1st Thursday of each month at 7pm in the Fireside Room. If you are aware of a congregational member who is in need of a prayer shawl or for more information, contact the church office (507) 532-2429 or Dawn Planting at (507) 423-1465 or (507) 828-8157 or email
